PIANO SONATA CYCLE
Our third evening concert series presents the complete Beethoven piano sonata cycle performed by internationally renowned concert pianist, Peter Donohoe in seven compelling recitals.
Beethoven's thirty-two piano sonatas form the very greatest of all collections of keyboard music. These sonatas, together with Bach's Well Tempered Clavier helped to shape the keyboard style of virtually every major Western composer up to the time of the radical revolutionaries of the twentieth century.
Collections are at the heart of the Holburne and we are delighted to present the first performance of this particular collection of Beethoven's music in Bath. Peter Donohoe is acclaimed as one of the foremost pianists of our time for his musicianship, stylistic versatility and commanding technique. In the years since his success as Silver Medal winner of the 7th International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, Peter Donohoe has built an extraordinary worldwide career, encompassing a huge repertoire and over forty years' experience as a pianist.
