Cardiff February 2012

First we visited the Senedd, home of the Welsh National Assembly, designed by Richard Rogers; also here is the restored Customs House.

We went on to the National Museum of Wales where there were several temporary exhibitions to enjoy. The Queen: Art & Image was touring from the National Portrait Gallery; John Piper: The Mountains of Wales showed works from the 1940s and early 1950s when Piper lived in North Wales; and David Jones in Focus: Paintings and Watercolours.

Last we visited Llandaff Cathedral, much restored in the mid 19th century. Restored again after severe damage in World War II, the cathedral now blends old and new, including Jacob Epstein’s Christ in Majesty.
