Chairman of the Friends
At the Friends’ AGM on 16 July, we had to bid farewell to our Chairman Sidney Blackmore, who has worked tirelessly for the Friends for so long. The committee would like to express their gratitude for his leadership over the years.
Sidney's association with the Holburne goes back to 1972 when he helped Charles Robertson, then Chairman of the Trustees, to organise an exhibition about the 18th-century Gothic revival.
In Sidney’s own words: “I have served as Chairman of the Friends over the last 14 years, an experience which has sometimes been challenging, particularly during the period of redevelopment, but endlessly fascinating. I am very grateful to members for all their loyalty and support during this period”.
Our newly appointed Chairman, Antonia Johnson admits to “taking over the Chairmanship of the Friends with a little trepidation, given the example set by Sidney”. She became a Friend within a week of moving to Bath, and is a strong admirer of the Museum, the Collection and the many people who play a part in its running.
We are very happy to welcome Antonia and hope that she will find her new role satisfying and rewarding.
