Ekphrasis and Ekphrasis
Saturday 8 February 10am-4pm
Ticket £40/£35 tel 01225 388569
This workshop will take students back to the source of ekphrasis, to examine exactly what the process entails, trying to determine how a poem continues the act of interpretation the painter began. It will also attempt to answer the question what - in a time when the nature of the image itself has changed - is the new ekphrasis? The case study - the point from which the workshop sets out for this enquiry - will be the works of Joseph Wright of Derby.
