Reconstructing a Dress from a Gainsborough Portrait - with Jenna Miller
A Meet the Artist with a difference. Suitable for adults or older children (no accompanying craft activity). Join Jenna Miller in our Brownsword Gallery to discover how she created a replica of Louisa Byam's dress in Gainsborough's Byam Family portrait. She will talk through the different stages of undergarments to the outer dress and there will be an opportunity to closely examine and handle her work.

Laura will explore the history of collage from the hobbies of aristocratic women in Victorian times, to the exciting contemporary collage work seen today in magazines and animation. You will explore visual storytelling and create an exciting 3D paper pop up collage to take home.

Make a unique Christmas present for a loved one. Inspired by the transfer-printed ceramics of Paul Scott, join artist Paula Tew to learn how to decorate plates using beautiful and colourful decal-transfers.
The ticket price includes materials to decorate one plate; additional materials may be purchased on the day. The plates are decorative but it may be possible to arrange for them to be fired for use, at an additional cost, after the workshop. Children aged 14 or under must be accompanied by a participating adult.
