A Lunchtime Concert with Fleur Barron (Mezzo-soprano) and Bretton Brown (Steinway Piano)

A Life in Flux is a companion musical programme to the special exhibition Under Changing Skies, featuring prints by Anne Desmet RA. Songs from three regions – Spain, Germany and the Americas – convey kaleidoscopic experiences of change: political upheaval, cultural relocation and shifting landscapes in the natural world. The musical journey spans repertoire from Schumann to Xavier Montsalvatge to Gershwin.
British mezzo Fleur Barron is the recipient of the 2016 Tanglewood Artist Award and the 1st Prize Winner of the 2013 Liederkranz Competition, which led to her Carnegie Hall debut. She is a dedicated recitalist with an active opera career in Europe and the U.S. Winner of music and literary prizes from Yale, Tanglewood, and Juilliard, American pianist Bretton Brown is now based in London. Performances this season include his Wigmore Hall debut accompanying Renée Fleming, and concerts at the Ravinia Festival’s Steans Music Institute in Chicago.
