Confected, Borrowed and Blue…an installation by Paul Scott

Home Event Confected, Borrowed and Blue…an installation by Paul Scott
In Paul Scott’s hands, domestic ceramics mutate into subversive comments on our life and times. Radioactivity warning signs are tucked into the border of Willow Pattern plates; jet planes streak across idealised rural landscapes.

The iconic blues and whites of Paul Scott’s printed ceramics will transform the Holburne’s ballroom table. First researching in print archives, Paul Scott excavates the raw graphic material used to produce blue and white transferware. Then, using altered antique wares with digital prints, he expertly manipulates these familiar blue and white motifs. Undecorated factory ceramics, called ‘blanks’ are over-printed in the same tones as the Willow Pattern to dramatic effect.
