Noctis are delighted to welcome internationally acclaimed pianist, Maria Garcia, for their Summer concert exploring the works of several prominent figures in the contemporary choral music scene, including Eriks Esenvalds, Ola Gjeilo and Jussi Chydenius. The programme will explore how nature often provides the richest tapestry of inspiration for composers, ranging from Gjeilo’s setting of WB Yeats’ poem, The Lake Isle of Innisfree, to Esenvalds’ evocative depiction of the Northern Lights phenomenon.
Francis Faux is one of the leading choral conductors in the South West and is the founding director of Noctis and Lucis. Noctis have quickly established a niche in Bath’s thriving music scene with a reputation for their versatility and excellence. Maria Garcia graduated in 1996 from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Murcia with a first prize distinction piano degree. Awarded a post-graduate scholarship at Trinity College of Music, she has won first prizes in national and international piano competitions. Maria joined Bath Spa University in 2008 and lectures in Piano and Performance.
