Eye Miniatures: Working with Poetic Form & Inner Vision
Saturday 6 July
Eye Miniatures: Working with Poetic Form and Inner Vision
Lesley Saunders and Frances-Anne King
The workshop will focus on the sonnet – its integrity, flexibility, concision, expressive power. The traditional sonnet can be radically modified and yet remain the idea of what we think a poem is. We will read some sonnets together, noting the characteristics we may want to bring into our own work. The stimulus for composing our sonnets will be the exciting exhibition of photographic portraits Ruby’s Room.
Frances-Anne King is a prize-winning poet whose poems have been published in national and international journals. Lesley Saunders is the author of four collections of poetry, including Cloud Camera; she is an experienced workshop leader who particularly enjoys working with ‘beginning’ writers.
