Inside the Museum Walls: distinctiveness in the weightless world
Loyd Grossman

ROBERTSON LECTURE 7pm Thursday 25 October

Digitisation of collections means we can all have a museum on our desktop, laptop or mobile phone. But paradoxically, the digital world presents new opportunities for museums, galleries and heritage sites. Throughout the world there is a hunger for authenticity and physicality which can only be satisfied by real visits to tangible places. This talk will explore the challenges and opportunities that the global, digital world presents for our collections.

Loyd Grossman is a writer and broadcaster who has had a long involvement with museums and heritage. A former Commissioner of English Heritage and of the Royal Commission on the Historic Monuments of England, he is Chairman of the Churches Conservation Trust and Chairman of the Heritage Alliance.

The Robertson Lecture was established by the Friends of the Holburne Museum to commemorate the legacy of Charles and Barbara Robertson.

Tickets £10
Café open for pre-talk drinks from 6pm
