| Biographical notes | Sir Thomas William Holburne, 5th Baronet (1793-1874). As the second son, William (as he was usually known) pursued a naval career and fought at Trafalgar. He succeeded his father as 5th Baronet after the death of his elder brother Francis. His collections of fine and decorative art, including miniatures, form the nucleus of the museum collections which commemorate the family name. |
