| Biographical notes | John Nixon (c.1750) was an amateur artist best known for his humorous sketches. He was a wealthy merchant, and came regularly to Bath, whose characters and streetscapes he recorded in his drawings. In 1792 he brought with him Thomas Rowlandson, whose influence can be seen in Nixon's work.
