| Biographical notes | Roelandt Jacobsz. Savery was a landscape, flower and animal painter. He was born in Courtrai (Flanders), then settled with his family in Amsterdam, where he was probably taught by his brother Jacob. The artist painted in Amsterdam, Prague (for Emperor Rudolph II in 1604-12), Vienna and Utrecht (1619-39). |
