Description Small volume bound in black leather with a brass clasp and a small pencil. With approx. 63  leaves (many blank). The pages contain a mixture of drawings, watercolours and written notes.

This is a sketchbook used by Sir William Holburne during his visit to Scotland in 1828. It contains 16 pencil drawings and watercolours of historic buildings and landscapes. These include Linlithgow Palace, Elgin Cathedral and Loch Leven. The last 14 pages comprise Sir William's journal of his visit from 26 August to  6 September 1828. Sir William continues his account of the visit (until 15 October) in a separate notebook (AR152b).
