Notes

August Ricard de Montferrand (1786-1858) was a French-born architect and collector who lived and worked in St Petersburg. His renowned collection of Italian maiolica was sold posthumously in London in 1859.

 At least 15 pieces in Sir William Holburne's collection are identifiable in the Montferrand sale catalogue:
