Come and see the transformation of the Museum and our collection, enjoy our opening exhibition Peter Blake: A Museum for Myself, and have fun with lots of creative activities.
Free Art Activities to Celebrate the Re-opening of the Holburne and Museums at Night
After three years of closure the Holburne Museum will be re-opened at 10am on Saturday 14 May at 10am by Sir Peter Blake.
Taking inspiration from our first exhibition Peter Blake: A Museum for Myself we will run a series of fun, family friendly creative activities for all our visitors to join in with as part of our re-opening celebrations.
A Museum for Everyone
Visitors will be invited to create to create A Museum for Everyone by making a collaborative Peter Blake influenced collage on an extra large canvas. Visitors can create a self-portrait on a canvas or paper tile, or select an object from the collection, to add to the giant picture of the Museum.
The collage will be displayed in the Holburne’s new Clore Learning Space during our opening week.
Pop-Art Pin-Badges
Peter Blake’s artwork and personal collection features many Pop Art badges. Visitors will be able to create their own badges, using images from catalogues and magazines or their own hand drawn pictures.
Pop-Bags
Visitors will be invited to design their own cotton tote bags. Our team of freelance artists will be on hand to guide participants in how to screen print an outline of the new Museum onto their bag and to embellish the outline with their own drawings.
We have invited Sgt Pepper's Only Dart Board Band to close our opening celebrations with a performance at 7pm. The band, with their own Fab Four plus Sgt Pepper on keyboards will perform the most complex Beatles songs completely live and without the use of backing tracks. Creating a faithful reproduction of the Fab Four's greatest hits and selection of well known album tracks, the guys in their full Pepper regalia are guaranteed to give a splendid time to all.
