Home Support Us Philanthropic Projects

The Holburne Museum is an independent charity that receives no regular government or local council funding. Every donation, trust grant, business sponsorship and membership subscription helps us to stay free-to-enter all year and help us change lives through art.

We are very fortunate to have a strong group of supporters in our Patrons, Friends, and the Holburne Contemporaries. Together their support helps to raise much needed funding that underpins all the work of the Holburne, from our ambitious exhibitions to our learning and community activities for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities; from our curatorial salaries to our annual maintenance costs.  A list of our core supporters can be found here.

On top of our core fundraising work, from time to time we launch one-off campaigns to fund specific projects such as acquisitions and education projects. The most significant campaign the Museum ever launched was our highly successful £11.2 million development that restored our Grade I Listed building and created Eric Parry’s stunning modern extension.

Importantly, these fundraising campaigns allow you, the donor, to choose exactly where you want your support to go.

Catalyst Endowment – support the future work of the Holburne. Our aim is to secure £8m in time to celebrate our centenary in 2016.

Conservation – as you can appreciate, the restoration and conservation of Art is a never ending project that will always require significant support.

Education – our educational work supports diverse groups in our community including the homeless, people with experience of mental issues, teenagers, young children, and people living with dementia. Support of our educational work is ongoing and we would welcome the opportunity to talk with you further.
