Hip Hip Hooray – Three Chairs for the Holburne Museum

Free event for all the family
Saturday 11 February, 12-4pm

Holburne artists, storytellers, poets and musicians take over the Museum for the start of half term. Be inspired by Simon Martin’s Louis Ghost Chair, join our team for a hands-on exploration of moments in art and design history.

The Story Chair
Storyteller Michael Loader explores how chairs, seats and stools have featured in traditional tales and stories at 12noon, 1pm and 2pm in the Picture Gallery.

The Poetry Chairs
Poet Frances-Anne King will share her favourite poems and encourage everyone to write their own poetry inspired by the Museum Collection at  1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm in the Ballroom Gallery.

The Graffiti Chair
Your poems and words become the design feature of our own graffiti chairs, located outside the Museum Garden Café.

The Dressing up Chair
“How did they sit down in that?” Dress up in bustles and saddlebags and explore walking and sitting as a Georgian in the Picture Gallery

The Screen Printing Chair
Textile artist Sarah Finch will demonstrate how to screen print your own cushion covers or shopping bags inspired by leading furniture designers throughout the afternoon. A charge of £2 will be made for materials.

The Arty Chair
Make your own colourful furniture gift cards featuring chairs through the ages.
