Want to see your artwork displayed in a museum?

We invite children and young people (5-25 yrs) to respond to the idea of a ‘double portrait’.

This could be two views of the same person, two connected people … or maybe you have another idea?! All mediums welcome (2-D only). 

Deadline for entries: 9am Monday 19 June.   *** ENTRIES NOW CLOSED***

A panel of judges will select portraits to be displayed in ‘Face to Face’: A pop-up exhibition in the Clore Learning Space, Holburne Museum.

The exhibition opens on 22 July and is FREE to view every weekend in August (during museum opening hours).

By creating a double portrait and entering our Face to Face Portrait Competition you could have a chance at winning:-

What do I need to know?

How to enter

  • Deadline for entries: 9am Monday 19 June.
  • Choose an age category and complete the online form 
  • Upload an image of the artwork (this should show the whole artwork and be as clear as possible)

The categories are:-

  • Children aged 5- 11 yrs (Primary School)
  • Children aged 11-16 yrs (Secondary School)
  • Young people aged 16-18 yrs (College/Sixth Form)
  • Young adults aged 18-25 yrs

Key dates

You will be notified if your artwork is selected on Friday 30 June.

If selected, artists agree to deliver their artwork to the museum on one of two slots: Thursday 6th July, 10-1pm + Monday 10th July, 3-5pm

Exhibition opens Saturday 22nd July, and will be available to view for free*:-

  • Saturday 22nd + Sunday 23rd July
  • Sunday 30th July
  • Saturday 5th + Sunday 6th August
  • Saturday 12th + Sunday 13th August
  • Saturday 19th + Sunday 20th August
  • Saturday 26th + Sunday 27th + Monday 29th August

* please note this does not include free entry to the whole museum, standard entry fees apply

Artist’s agree to collect their artwork from the museum when the exhibition closes, dates for this will be shared closer to the time.

The museum cannot store any artwork, therefore any uncollected work will be disposed of if not collected or alternative arrangements made.

Terms and Conditions

  • One entry per person
  • Must be a double-faced portrait
  • Must be in 2-D form e.g. painting, drawing, photography, collage
  • Maximum of A3 size
  • Selected art must be delivered to the Holburne either backed onto strong card or framed
