Bring the museum experience to you! With our new Schools Loans Boxes you can explore and discover the fantastic Greek-inspired tales and mythical beasts that live in the Holburne museum collection for yourself.

These resources have been designed as a tool for teachers and educators to use to aid teaching Ancient Greek topics within the curriculum.

Each Going Greek Schools Loans Box is suitable for a class of up to 32 pupils, in either KS1 or KS2 classes. Each Loans Box contains:-

  • Beautiful Greek-inspired handling objects (enough for 1 per pupil!)
  • A ‘match the object label’ game, designed to get pupils looking and thinking about the objects and their stories. (Teacher cheat sheet included)
  • Holburne Collection Greek inspired objects Discover real ‘Going Greek’ objects in the museum collection – see where the inspiration for these boxes came from!
  • Access to exclusive films, including an introduction to the museum’s most unique Greek inspired object – The Diana and Acteon Majolica plate (over 500 years old!) and a creative activity tutorial.
  • Access to an exciting a Printable Creative Activity worksheet – ‘design your own mythological creature’, the more fearsome, the better!
  • A  Teacher Briefing sheet . A selection of ideas and themes to aid your lesson planning and help you make the most of this resources.

Loans Box Fees:            

  • £20.00 – Hire for 1 week (one week minimum)
  • £25.00 per week – Additional weeks loan time (up to a maximum of 3 additional weeks)
  • £10.00 per day – Failure to return the loan box on the agreed return date

Schools will be invoiced when booking of loan box is confirmed.

Receiving and returning your loans box:

The loan box is loaned for a minimum period of 1 week and a maximum period of 4 weeks. Schools/organisations local to BANES can collect the loans box on a pre-arranged date and time agreed with the Holburne Learning Team.

UK wide courier delivery can be arranged in agreement with the Holburne Learning Team. This is dependent on availability. The Loans Box must be returned on the pre-arranged date and time to avoid incurring further fees.
