Reimagining the Holburne’s Collection: Lab 1 – AI and You

Can you reveal new stories about the museum’s collection?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being used to label the world around us. It’s a technology in your phone camera, in online image searches and is increasingly being used by museums for searching online collections.
In this Lab, Creative Technologist Coral Manton will introduce you to AI through experimenting with classification tools and museum images. We’ll discuss how curators label objects now, and how AI is changing access to cultural collections online. You’ll widen the stories we tell about our collection by making your own classifications and understand how your way of seeing changes how the item is presented.
New content created will be shared on the museum’s Reimagining the Holburne’s collection website.
There are no specific skills required for this Lab. Each Lab is limited to 20 people aged 16 and over. Refreshments are included.
