Sir Nicholas Penny talks about the relationship between public and private art

A talk by Sir Nicholas Penny (Art historian and Director of the National Gallery 2008-15)
The National Gallery and Longford Castle: a new style of relationship.
Thursday, 14 October at 6.30pm in the Picture Gallery.
This talk will outline the story of the links between the two outstanding collections and how they have developed since the 19th century. It will illustrate how public and private institutions can interact and the importance of works of art being kept in the places they were made for or in the spaces designed around them.
